Compression Socks
Graduated compression socks, stockings and sleeves from mild everyday support to prescription levels, measured and fitted properly.
Compression socks squeeze the leg, firmest at the ankle and easing as they go up. That gradient helps the veins move blood back towards the heart instead of letting it pool around the ankles.
People wear them for tired, aching or swollen legs, for varicose veins, during long flights or long days standing, after surgery, and for diagnosed venous conditions.
Compression is measured in mmHg, and the number matters
15-20 mmHg is mild. This is the everyday level: travel, long shifts on your feet, mild swelling, tired legs, and pregnancy. Most people buying without a diagnosis want this.
20-30 mmHg is medical grade. Used for varicose veins, more persistent swelling, after vein procedures, and for some venous disease. It is noticeably firmer to put on.
30-40 mmHg is prescription territory. Used for significant venous disease, lymphoedema and severe swelling. This level should be worn on the advice of a doctor or a nurse, not chosen off a page.
Please talk to someone first
Compression is not right for everyone, and at higher levels it can do harm.
Anyone with poor arterial circulation, diabetes with neuropathy, uncontrolled heart failure, a skin infection or an open wound on the leg should speak to their doctor before wearing compression at any level.
If you are not sure which level you need, ask us and ask your doctor. We would rather have that conversation than sell you the wrong thing.
Fit is as important as compression
These are sized by leg measurements, not shoe size. Ankle and calf circumference, and calf length, decide the size, and the length letters on our products refer to leg length rather than foot size.
Measure in the morning, before swelling builds through the day. A sock that is too tight at the top digs in and acts like a tourniquet; one that is too loose does nothing at all.
Come in and we will measure you properly.
Wearing them
Put them on first thing, before your legs swell. They come off at night unless a clinician has said otherwise. Replace them every three to six months with regular wear, because the elastic tires and stops delivering the compression printed on the label.
