Safer transfers at home
Patient Lift & Sling Rental in Toronto & the GTA
Support for caregivers. Comfort for patients.
Support for Caregivers | Comfort for Patients
Help Mobility offers a range of patient lifts and slings to make transfers safer, easier, and more comfortable — whether at home or in care settings.
Manual lifting is how most caregiver injuries happen, and it's also where patients are most at risk of a fall. A lift removes that risk from the several times a day it would otherwise occur, which is why it's often the single most important piece of equipment in a home care setup.

Which Type of Lift Do You Need?
Ideal for full-body transfers from bed, wheelchair, or floor. The patient is supported entirely by a sling, so no weight-bearing or standing ability is required.
Choose this when someone cannot assist with the transfer at all.
Perfect for individuals with partial mobility who need assistance standing. The patient must be able to bear some weight and hold on, but the lift does the hard part.
Choose this for transfers to a commode or chair, and to help maintain strength.
If you're unsure which applies, describe what the person can and can't do on the phone and we'll tell you which lift is appropriate. Choosing the wrong type is the most common mistake, and it matters for safety.

If the Need Is Permanent, Buying Refurbished Costs Less
Renting is right while things are uncertain: after a discharge, during recovery, or while you work out whether a floor lift or a sit-to-stand suits.
Where the need is ongoing, renting for years costs considerably more than owning. A refurbished lift is a fraction of the price of new, comes with brand new batteries and a one year warranty on most equipment, and we supply the correct sling and show you how to use it exactly as we do with a rental.

Funding for Patient Lifts in Ontario
Spinal Cord Injury Ontario supports access to floor and ceiling lifts and transfer aids, and WSIB Ontario funds transfer aids for workers recovering from work-related injuries.
Eligibility depends on your circumstances. We work with these applications every day and can tell you which are realistic before you spend time on paperwork.

Patient Lift Rental FAQs
How much does it cost to rent a patient lift?
Rental pricing depends on the type of lift and how long you need it. Call us at 905-615-9302, describe the transfers you need to make, and we'll recommend a lift and give you a quote.
Should I rent or buy a patient lift?
Rent while things are uncertain, such as after a discharge or during recovery. For a permanent need, buying is considerably cheaper than renting for years, and a refurbished lift comes with brand new batteries and a one year warranty on most equipment. Ask us for both numbers and we will be straight with you.
What's the difference between a Hoyer lift and a sit-to-stand lift?
A floor lift, often called a Hoyer lift, supports the person entirely in a sling and is used when they can't bear weight or assist with the transfer. A sit-to-stand lift is for someone with partial mobility who can bear some weight and hold on, but needs help getting upright.
Are slings included with the lift?
Sling type and size are matched to the individual and the kind of transfer being done, so we confirm this per rental. Tell us about the user when you call and we'll set out exactly what comes with the lift.
Can one caregiver operate a patient lift alone?
Many floor lifts are designed to be operated by a single trained caregiver, but whether that's safe depends on the person being transferred and the setting. We walk caregivers through safe operation at delivery, and we'll be straightforward with you if a second person is advisable.
Do you show us how to use it?
Yes. We don't just drop the equipment off — our team demonstrates safe operation and sling positioning before leaving, so caregivers are confident using it.
How quickly can a patient lift be delivered?
Same-day delivery and setup is available across the Greater Toronto Area. If you're coordinating a hospital discharge, call early in the day and we'll prioritise it.
What happens if the lift needs repair during the rental?
Service is part of the rental. Our technicians are trained and certified, we're available seven days a week, and emergency service is available 24 hours a day — which matters when a lift is the only safe way to move someone.
Ready to Rent or Have Questions?
