Door Operators
Automatic door operators surveyed, supplied, installed and serviced for homes, condominiums and commercial premises.
A door operator opens a door for you. Press a button, wave a hand at a sensor, or use a remote, and the door swings open and closes itself behind you.
We survey, supply, install and service door operators for homes, condominiums and commercial premises across the Mississauga area.
Why a door defeats people
A door is easy to overlook when planning accessibility, and it is often the thing that actually stops someone.
Opening a door means pulling it towards you while staying out of its path. In a wheelchair that is genuinely difficult: you reverse, pull, hold the door with one hand while wheeling with the other, and stop it closing on you as you go through. With a walker, one hand is already committed. With weak hands, the handle itself may be the problem.
Front doors are heavier than internal ones, and building entrance doors are heavier still, often with closers designed to shut firmly. A ramp that gets someone to their front door has not solved much if they cannot open it.
What we install
Single door operators for a front or interior door, with the control panel, motor, power supply and sensors fitted as one system.
Low profile operators, where the header unit needs to be less obtrusive above the door.
Activation to suit the person: wall buttons, wireless remotes, sensors, or a fob carried in a pocket.
Electric strikes and intercoms, so a door can be released and answered without going to it.
What a survey covers
Which way the door swings and whether there is room for it to open. Whether the frame and header will take an operator. Where power can be run from. What the person can physically use to activate it. Whether the threshold also needs addressing, since a door that opens over a lip has only half solved the problem.
For a condominium or a rented property, we can also advise on what approvals are usually needed before work starts.
