Personal Care Products
Reachers, dressing aids, bed handles, transfer boards, skin protection, alarms and pillows that make daily tasks possible again.
The everyday items that make ordinary tasks possible again: reaching, dressing, sleeping comfortably, staying safe at night and protecting skin.
This is our broadest range, and most of it costs very little relative to the difference it makes.
Reaching and dressing
The tasks that quietly become impossible first are the ones involving bending and reaching the feet.
Reachers pick things off the floor or a high shelf without bending. Sock aids and dressing sticks let someone dress themselves without reaching their feet, which is exactly the restriction after a hip replacement. Long-handled shoe horns, key turners for weak or arthritic hands, and typing aids all do the same job: they keep a task with the person rather than handing it to someone else.
Getting up and moving about
Bed assist handles and couch canes give something solid to pull on when getting out of a bed or a low sofa, which is where a lot of people struggle long before they need a walker.
Transfer boards and turn discs bridge the gap between two seats, or let someone be turned without their feet twisting.
Stand assist devices help someone out of a chair without a carer lifting them.
Sleeping and positioning
Cervical and body pillows, positioning cushions, waterproof mattress covers and fitted sheets sized for homecare beds, which are narrower than domestic sizes.
Protecting skin
Heel and elbow protectors and offloading boots matter more than they look. Heels are where pressure injuries most often start, because the bone sits close to the skin with little tissue between, and someone lying in bed rests their heels on the mattress for hours at a time.
Seat cushions here suit an ordinary chair. For a wheelchair used all day, see wheelchair cushions, which do a different job.
Safety and alarms
Bed and chair pressure alarms, pull cord alarms and wander alarms warn a carer that someone is moving without restricting them, which is often safer than a bed rail that a confused person may climb over.
Seeing, holding, living
Magnifiers, low vision playing cards, cup holders, and the small things that keep hobbies and habits going. These matter to quality of life more than the equipment budget suggests.
