Support Poles
Floor to ceiling support poles that give a handhold where there is no wall, installed without drilling.
A support pole runs from floor to ceiling and gives a solid vertical handhold wherever you need one. It is held in place by tension between the floor and the ceiling, so nothing is screwed into a wall.
Why a pole rather than a grab bar
A grab bar has to go where the structure is. A pole can go where the person actually needs support: beside the bed, next to a favourite chair, by the toilet, at the edge of the bath.
Very often that position has no wall at all. A bed sits away from the wall, a chair is in the middle of a room, and a toilet may have a bath on one side. A pole does not care.
It also suits rentals and condominiums, since there is no drilling and no permanent alteration, and it comes down leaving nothing behind.
Vertical support is different
A horizontal bar is something to push down on. A vertical pole is something to pull up on, and you can move your grip up as you rise, which means support through the whole movement rather than at one fixed height.
For someone getting out of a low chair or a bed, that continuous grip is usually what makes the difference.
What can be added
Poles take attachments, which is what makes the system worth choosing. A support arm or horizontal bar adds something to push against. A pivot bar swings to follow a transfer. A trapeze lets someone pull themselves up in bed.
So a pole installed for standing beside a chair can later be adapted for transfers or bed use without starting again.
Your ceiling matters
This is the thing to check before ordering. A tension pole needs a solid, structural ceiling and a ceiling height within the pole's range.
Suspended or drop ceilings, cathedral and sloped ceilings, and some finishes need different treatment or may rule a pole out. Tell us the ceiling type and the floor to ceiling height, and we will confirm what will work.
Ask us
Tell us where the support is needed and what the person is trying to do. We install these, and we would rather measure than have you guess.
