Floor Mounted Support Pole, 450 lbs

A floor to ceiling support pole rated to 450 lbs, giving a vertical handhold where there is no wall.

Features & Benefits

Why this one

Support that follows you

A vertical handhold you can slide your grip up as you rise, so support follows the whole movement.

No wall required

Goes where the support is needed rather than where a wall happens to be, including mid-room.

No drilling

Nothing drilled into a wall, so it suits rentals and condos and leaves no alteration behind.

450 lb capacity

Rated to 450 lbs, so it can be pulled on hard and trusted by a larger user.

Add to it later

Takes a support arm, pivot bar or trapeze later, so it adapts without starting again.

Check your ceiling

Needs a solid structural ceiling and a height within range. Tell us your ceiling type before ordering.

About this product

A floor to ceiling support pole, rated to 450 lbs, supplied without a support arm. It gives a solid vertical handhold wherever it is installed.

The pole on its own

This is the base of the system: a pole tensioned between floor and ceiling, giving something firm to pull up on and steady against.

A vertical handhold works differently from a horizontal bar. You can slide your grip upwards as you rise, so the support follows the movement rather than sitting at one fixed height. For getting out of a low chair or a bed, that continuous grip is usually what makes it possible.

Where it goes

Anywhere, which is the point. Beside a bed, next to a chair, by the toilet, at the edge of the bath. None of those positions needs a wall, and very often there is not one where the support is actually wanted.

It suits rentals and condominiums, since nothing is drilled into a wall and it comes down leaving no alteration behind.

450 lbs

A high capacity, so it can be pulled on hard and trusted by a larger user. That matters on a pole, because people put their full weight through it in a way they may not with a rail.

It can be added to later

Attachments fit the same pole: a support arm or horizontal bar to push against, a pivot bar that swings to follow a transfer, or a trapeze for pulling up in bed.

So a pole installed for standing beside a chair can be adapted later without starting again.

Check your ceiling first

A tension pole needs a solid, structural ceiling and a floor to ceiling height within the pole's range. Suspended, cathedral or sloped ceilings need different treatment or may rule a pole out.

Tell us the ceiling type and height and we will confirm before you order. We install these.
