Regain Independence with Reliable Stairlift Solutions

At Help Mobility, we provide affordable stairlift rentals designed to make multi-level homes accessible and safe. Whether you're recovering from surgery or supporting a loved one with mobility challenges, our stairlifts offer a smooth, secure ride — indoors or outdoors.

A staircase is often the single thing that decides whether someone can stay in their own home. Renting a stairlift removes that barrier without the cost or permanence of buying, which makes it a practical choice for recovery periods, for progressive conditions where needs change, and for families who want to try a stairlift before committing to one.

Rent vs buy

Why Rent a Stairlift Instead of Buying?

The Need Is Temporary

After hip or knee surgery, a cardiac event, or a fall, stairs may be unsafe for weeks or months rather than permanently. Renting matches the equipment to the recovery.

Needs May Change

With progressive conditions, what works today may not suit next year. A rental can be adjusted or swapped rather than replaced at full cost.

You Want to Be Sure First

Living with a stairlift is different from reading about one. Renting lets the household find out before a purchase decision.

Service Is Included

If anything needs adjusting or repairing during the rental, our certified technicians handle it — there's no separate service call to arrange.

If the need is permanent

Buying Is Cheaper Than Renting for Years

Renting is right while things are uncertain. Where the stairs are a permanent problem, buying costs considerably less over time.

Our installed prices start at $3,000 for a straight stairlift and $9,000 for a curved one, and refurbished straight lifts cost less again, with a one year warranty on most equipment.

That is worth knowing before committing to monthly payments on something that will still be needed in three years. Ask us for both figures and we will be straight with you about which suits.

Is a Stairlift Right for Your Staircase?

Our rental stairlifts are designed for straight staircases, which covers most homes in the GTA, with smooth operation and quick installation.

If your staircase curves, turns a corner, or has a landing partway up, the fit is different — curved staircases usually need a rail built for that specific stairwell, which is a purchase rather than a rental. See our curved stairlift options, or send a photo and we'll tell you honestly what will and won't work before anything is booked.

For outdoor steps, porch access and entryways, a porchlift or ramp is often the better answer than a stairlift.

Simple process

How Stairlift Rental Works

Call and Describe Your Stairs

Tell us about the staircase and who will use the lift. We'll confirm whether a straight stairlift suits your home.

We Deliver and Install

Our technicians fit the stairlift and test it thoroughly. Same-day installation is available across the GTA.

Support Behind You

Our team is available seven days a week, with emergency service available 24 hours a day.

Extend, Return or Buy

Keep the stairlift as long as you need it. When you're finished we remove it, or you can move to buying one.

Funding

Funding for Stairlifts in Ontario

Stair lifts are among the home modifications covered by the Home & Vehicle Modifications Program from March of Dimes Canada, which offers eligible Ontario residents up to $15,000 lifetime for home modifications.

Note that a stairlift is classed as a home modification rather than an assistive device, so the Assistive Devices Program does not generally fund one, whatever you may read elsewhere.

Other programs may apply depending on your circumstances. We work with funding applications every day and can tell you which ones are worth pursuing.

Questions

Stairlift Rental FAQs

How much does it cost to rent a stairlift?

Rental pricing depends on the staircase and how long you need the lift. Call us at 905-615-9302 and describe your stairs and we'll give you a straightforward quote — there's no charge for the conversation.

Is it cheaper to rent or buy a stairlift?

Rent for a temporary need such as recovery after surgery. For a permanent need, buying costs considerably less over time: our installed prices start at $3,000 for a straight stairlift and $9,000 for a curved one, with refurbished straight lifts cheaper again. See stairlift prices and options, or ask us for both figures.

How quickly can a stairlift be installed?

Same-day delivery and setup is available across the Greater Toronto Area for most rentals. Contact us early in the day for priority scheduling, particularly if you're arranging a discharge from hospital.

Do your rental stairlifts fit curved staircases?

Our rental stairlifts are designed for straight staircases. Curved stairs need a rail built for that specific stairwell, which is a purchase rather than a rental — see our curved stairlift options, from $9,000 installed. Call or send a photo and we'll tell you honestly which applies to your home.

Will a stairlift damage my staircase or walls?

Straight stairlifts are typically fixed to the stair treads rather than to the wall. Our technicians assess your staircase before installation and will explain exactly how the rail will be mounted in your home.

What happens if the stairlift stops working during my rental?

Service is part of the rental. Our technicians are trained and certified, our team is available seven days a week, and emergency service is available 24 hours a day for urgent situations.

Can I rent a stairlift short-term while recovering from surgery?

Yes — short-term recovery is one of the most common reasons people rent rather than buy. Keep the stairlift for as long as you need it, and we'll collect it when you're back on your feet.

Is stairlift rental covered by funding in Ontario?

Stair lifts fall under the home modifications covered by the March of Dimes Canada Home & Vehicle Modifications Program, and other programs may apply depending on your situation. The Assistive Devices Program does not generally fund stairlifts, as they are classed as home modifications. See our funding page or call us.
