The Same Bed, For a Fraction of the Price

A proper homecare bed changes what is possible at home. It makes getting in and out safer, makes sitting up to eat or read comfortable, and takes an enormous amount of strain off whoever is providing care.

New, those beds are expensive, and they are ordered from a manufacturer and wait in a queue. A refurbished bed costs far less and is already here in our warehouse in Mississauga, which is why it can be in a bedroom within days rather than weeks.

Most of our refurbished equipment comes with a one year warranty, so buying used from us is not the gamble that buying privately is.

What we carry

The Beds We Refurbish

These are the same models we supply new, rent and service every day, so we know how they behave in a real home rather than in a brochure.

Fully Electric Beds

Height, backrest and leg elevation controlled from a hand pendant. The standard choice for home care, and what most people are looking for.

Floor-Line Beds

Beds that lower close to the floor, so a fall from the bed is a few inches rather than two feet. Often the safer answer for someone confused or at risk at night.

Bariatric & Wider Frames

Wider beds for larger users, including Halsa Plus, where a standard 36 inch frame is not enough.

Mattresses

Foam and alternating pressure mattresses in 36", 42" and 54" widths, including pressure care surfaces for anyone who cannot reposition themselves.

Rails & Grab Handles

Half rails, full rails and bedside handles, matched to the bed and the mattress rather than bought off a shelf.

Overbed Tables & Trapezes

The accessories that make a bed work day to day, at prices that make them easy to add.

Models on the floor change constantly. Call and ask what we have today — we will tell you honestly, including when it is worth waiting for something better.

Choosing

Which Bed You Actually Need

Which bed suits depends less on the diagnosis than on how it will be used day to day.

How Much the Person Can Do

If they can reposition themselves, a simpler bed may be enough. If a caregiver is doing the repositioning, full electric adjustment saves their back every single day.

Who Else Is Helping

Height adjustment matters enormously for caregivers, letting them work at a safe height instead of bending over a fixed bed.

Night-Time Safety

If getting out of bed at night is the worry, a floor-line bed with a fall mat beside it is often safer than full rails, which someone confused may climb over.

How Long It Is Needed

A few weeks after surgery is a different decision from ongoing care, and it changes whether renting, renting to own or buying refurbished makes more sense.

Buy or rent

Buying Used, or Renting

Both are available, and the right answer usually comes down to how long the bed is needed.

Renting suits a temporary need such as recovery after surgery. Service is included and you return the bed when you are done. Our rentals start at $220 a month with the mattress included.

Buying refurbished suits an ongoing need, where paying monthly for years would cost considerably more than owning the bed outright. Most refurbished equipment comes with a one year warranty.

Rent to own sits between the two, and is a sensible hedge when nobody is certain yet how long the bed will be needed.

Funding

Funding a Hospital Bed in Ontario

In most cases OHIP does not cover the cost of a hospital bed for use at home, which surprises a lot of families.

Funding programs also differ on whether they will cover used or refurbished equipment. Some fund only new devices, which is precisely why a refurbished bed is often the practical route for a family paying themselves.

Other programs may still apply. WSIB Ontario funds hospital beds and therapeutic mattresses for work-related injuries, and Spinal Cord Injury Ontario supports access to pressure-management beds.

We handle these applications every day and can tell you quickly what is realistic.

Questions

Used & Refurbished Hospital Bed FAQs

Do used hospital beds come with a warranty?

Yes. Most of our refurbished equipment comes with a one year warranty, and an extended warranty is available for longer cover. This is the main difference between buying from us and buying privately, where you have no recourse at all once the bed is delivered. Ask us for the terms on the bed you are considering.

How much does a used hospital bed cost in Toronto?

Considerably less than new, and the exact price depends on the model and its condition. Call 905-615-9302 and we will quote what we have on the floor today, including delivery to your address.

Is a refurbished bed as good as a new one?

These are the same models we supply new, rent and service. Cosmetically a used bed may show marks from previous use, and we will describe the specific bed you are being offered before you commit. If appearance matters to you, come and look at it at our Mississauga showroom.

Does the bed come with a mattress?

Mattresses are available with the bed, in foam and alternating pressure versions and in 36", 42" and 54" widths. Tell us who the bed is for and we will advise whether a pressure care mattress is needed, which matters for anyone who cannot reposition themselves.

Does OHIP cover hospital beds at home?

In most cases OHIP does not cover the cost of a hospital bed for home use. Some programs fund only new equipment, which is often why buying refurbished is the practical route. See our funding page, or call and we will tell you what is realistic.

Do you deliver and assemble the bed?

Yes. We deliver the bed and mattress, assemble it in the room where it will be used, and test it before leaving, so it is ready to use immediately. There is nothing for the family to put together.

What size are the beds?

Our standard homecare bed is 36" x 80". Wider frames are available up to 48" for bariatric needs, along with floor-line models that lower close to the ground and models that raise higher to make caregiving easier.

Should I buy or rent?

Renting suits a temporary need such as recovery after surgery, and starts at $220 a month with the mattress included. Buying refurbished suits an ongoing need, where paying monthly for years would cost more than owning. Rent to own sits between the two.
