About this product
Trakz is Raz Design's tub slider system. It lets someone be showered over an existing bathtub when the bathroom has no roll-in shower, without being lifted over the tub wall and without a renovation.
How the system works
Three parts. A mobility base, which is a wheeled commode chair used in the bedroom and over the toilet. A tub base, which stays inside the bathtub. And a bridge spanning the tub wall between them.
The person transfers into the mobility base once, is wheeled to the bathroom, used over the toilet if needed, then slides across the bridge into the tub for showering. One transfer covers the entire routine.
Zbrilok, the safety interlock
This is the feature worth understanding. Trakz is the first tub slider with a patented interlock that prevents the seat and the person moving onto the bridge unless the bridge is securely latched to both the tub base and the mobility base.
Without an interlock, the risk on any slider system is the same: a bridge that looks connected but is not, at the exact moment someone's weight moves onto it. Zbrilok makes that sequence impossible rather than relying on a carer checking.
Tilting or non-tilting
The Trakz-AT uses a 35 degree dual-arc rotational tilt. The rotational geometry lets the chair sit closer to the rear wall, leaving more room for the feet and legs, which is what allows it to fit smaller bathrooms. It also reduces the tilt effort enough for single-handed operation.
The Trakz-AP does not tilt. On a non-tilting seat the person's legs must be lifted over the tub wall, so if leg lifting is the difficulty, the tilting version is the one to look at.
Fitting the bathroom
Seven off-the-shelf bridge lengths are available, plus custom lengths, because the span depends on your tub and room. Tool-free stabiliser adjustments on the tub base speed up levelling and alignment. Removing the wraparound swing-away arm supports brings the mobile base down to 20.75 inches wide for tight doorways.
