The Otter is a bathing support chair for children who cannot sit safely in a bath unaided. It holds the child at whatever angle suits them, so a parent can use both hands to wash rather than supporting a child in water.

Five positions, adjusted with one hand

The seat and back adjust to 0, 22.5, 45, 67.5 and 90 degrees, from lying almost flat through to fully upright. That covers a baby who cannot sit at all through to an older child who sits well but needs steadying.

The adjustment is made using uni-bars, with one hand, and can be done while the child is in the chair. Anyone who has bathed a child with support needs will recognise why that matters: you cannot let go to make an adjustment.

Support that can be built up or stripped back

Height and width adjustable head cushions, which double as lateral supports for the trunk. Leg straps to control abduction and adduction. Two positioning straps that can be placed anywhere along the frame, or removed entirely where they are not needed.

So the chair can be set up for a child who needs a great deal of support and then simplified as they develop.

It saves the parent's back

The legs are slip-resistant and raise the chair up to 7 inches, and that height can be adjusted with the child seated. A Tub Stand or Shower Stand is available separately for more height again.

Bathing a child from your knees on a bathroom floor is how parents injure their backs, and it gets harder every year as the child grows. Raising the chair is not a comfort feature.

Sizes

Three sizes: small for children up to about 36 inches and 60 lbs, medium for roughly 32 to 50 inches and 120 lbs, and large for roughly 46 to 68 inches and 160 lbs. Tell us the child's height and weight and we will confirm which fits.

The fabric removes and machine washes, and the chair folds flat for storage.
