The Raz-AP600 is a heavy duty mobile shower commode chair, attendant propelled, carrying up to 605 lbs. It is designed so the whole bathing and toileting routine happens in one chair: transfer in once, wheel over the toilet, roll into the shower, dry off, and transfer out.

Why that matters more than any single feature

The alternative is several transfers, each one a chance to fall and each one hard work for whoever is helping. Removing three or four transfers from a daily routine changes the risk profile and the physical toll on a carer more than any comfort feature on the chair.

Built for weight and for water

The frame is electro-polished stainless steel, which handles both the loads involved and constant exposure to water and soap without corroding. Castors are dual-locking, 5 inch for users up to 400 lbs and 6 inch above that, so the chair stays where it is put during transfers.

The frame is shaped to fit over most toilets and to allow access from the front and the sides, which matters when a carer needs to reach in to assist.

Positioning, not just seating

This is a rehab chair rather than a basic shower seat. The Multi-Position Back adjusts the centre of gravity, so someone who cannot sit upright unsupported is properly supported rather than propped. The backrest fabric adjusts for tension, and the seat has 4 inches of height adjustment.

Raz's Ischial and Pelvic Alignment System gives 2 inches of fore and aft seat adjustment and 1 inch laterally. That allows the seat opening to be positioned under the person correctly rather than approximately, which affects both comfort and whether toileting actually works.

A large moulded soft foam seat rather than a hard plastic ring, flip-up padded armrests for side transfers, and an elongated commode pan.
