Raz-AT Tilting Shower Commode Chair

An attendant tilt shower commode chair tilting to 40 degrees, for pressure relief and support through a full bathing routine.

Features & Benefits

Why this one

40 degrees of tilt

Tilts to 40 degrees, moving pressure off the sitting bones during the long periods a shower and toilet routine takes.

Gas spring assisted

Locking gas springs assist lifting the seat upright, which is what decides whether carers actually use the tilt.

IPAS as standard

The Ischial and Pelvic Alignment System positions the seat under the person properly, and comes as standard.

Infinite headrest range

The headrest adjusts infinitely, 5.5 inches forward and back and 11.5 inches vertically, for real head support.

Stainless steel frame

Polished stainless steel throughout, which handles constant water and soap without corroding.

Fits over the toilet

Fits over most toilets with front and side access, so a carer can reach in rather than work around the chair.

Height and back adjust

Four inches of seat height adjustment and adjustable-tension back upholstery, set to the person at fitting.

Built for transfers

Flip-up padded armrests and 5 inch dual-locking castors, so transfers are sideways and the chair holds still.

About this product

The Raz-AT is the attendant tilt version of Raz's mobile shower commode chair, and it is the one most often specified where someone cannot hold themselves upright or needs pressure relief during a longer routine.

Why tilt matters in a bathroom

Showering and toileting take time, and for someone who cannot shift their own weight, sitting still on a commode aperture for fifteen or twenty minutes concentrates pressure on exactly the tissue that is most vulnerable. Tilting to 40 degrees moves that load off the sitting bones and onto the back, the same principle as a tilt-in-space wheelchair.

Tilt also helps with head and trunk control. Someone who slides forward or lists to one side when upright is far easier to wash, and far safer, reclined slightly.

Tilt the attendant can actually operate

The frame uses locking gas springs that assist lifting the seat back upright. That is the detail that decides whether a tilt chair gets used: if returning it to upright is a struggle, carers avoid tilting at all. The springs take most of that effort, and Raz describe it as among the easiest tilting shower chairs to operate.

Positioning as standard

The Ischial and Pelvic Alignment System comes standard, positioning the seat under the person rather than approximately. So does 4 inches of height adjustment, adjustable-tension back upholstery, a moulded headrest with fixture, 5 inch dual-locking castors, flip-up padded armrests and a commode pan.

The headrest adjusts infinitely, through 5.5 inches forward and back and 11.5 inches vertically, which matters for anyone whose head position needs real support rather than a pad in roughly the right place.

In the bathroom

The polished stainless steel frame fits over most toilets and gives front and side access, so a carer can reach in to assist rather than working around the chair.
