Quickie Xenon 2 Folding Wheelchair

The lightest aluminium folding wheelchair in its class, from 19.4 lbs, with a hidden cross brace that gives it the ride and look of a rigid frame.

Features & Benefits

Why this one

Lightest in its class

From 19.4 lbs on the fixed front frame, which makes it the lightest aluminium folding wheelchair in its class.

Rides like a rigid

A redesigned axle system and unique cross brace give much of the solid driving feel of a rigid frame, without the creaking folders develop.

Hidden cross brace

The cross brace folds so neatly under the seat that it is barely visible, giving the open minimal look of a rigid chair.

Three frame versions

Fixed front for the lightest push, swing away for easier transfers, or Hybrid for strength, so one design covers three quite different users.

Hybrid to 300 lbs

The Hybrid uses a dual tube to the caster area for a 300 lb capacity, and is the frame to choose for handbike attachments.

Fine tuned to suit

Centre of gravity moves between a stable passive setup and an active one, with rear seat height, seat tilt and backrest angle also adjustable.

Auto-folding footplate

An auto-folding footplate comes as standard on the fixed front and Hybrid frames, one less thing to manage when transferring.

30 colour options

Thirty frame colours, six anodized fork colours and five trim colours, so the chair can be understated or not, as you prefer.

About this product

The Xenon 2 is Sunrise's attempt to end the compromise between folding and rigid chairs, and it comes closer than most. The trick is the cross brace, which folds away so neatly under the seat that it is barely visible. The chair has the open, minimal look of a rigid frame, and combined with a redesigned axle system it has much of the driving feel too, without the creaking that folding frames usually develop.

It is built from hydroformed aircraft grade 7000 series aluminium, and in its lightest form it starts at 19.4 lbs, which makes it the lightest aluminium folding wheelchair in its class.

Three frames, not one chair

The fixed front frame is the lightest and the most efficient to push, with a sportier look, and suits someone who does not need the legrests to move. The swing away frame adds swing away legrests for easier transfers and getting close to furniture, at a little more weight. The Hybrid uses a reinforced frame with a dual tube to the caster area, giving the highest capacity of the three at 300 lbs, and it is the one to choose for handbike attachments or a heavier user.

Adjustment

Centre of gravity adjusts between a stable, passive setup and an active one, and rear seat height, seat tilt and backrest angle all adjust as well. It is worth knowing that the Xenon is not designed for the extensive post-build adjustment that entry level chairs offer. It is fine tuned rather than reconfigured, which is the usual trade for this little weight.
