Features & Benefits

Why this one

Very wide sizing range

Seat widths run from 10 to 24 inches on one frame, covering a small child through to a broad adult where most chairs need several frames.

Low seat heights

Front seat to floor comes down to 12.5 inches, low enough to foot propel with the whole foot rather than just the toes.

Angle adjustable backs

Back canes adjust from +7 to -21 degrees in 3.5 degree steps, which is a real postural range rather than a token adjustment.

Half-inch armrest steps

Armrest height adjusts in half inch increments, so the arms can be set to support the shoulders rather than to the nearest preset.

Elliptical cross brace

Elliptical heavy duty cross brace tubing resists twist better than round tube for the same weight, keeping the chair tracking straight.

Slip-on upholstery

Seat and back upholstery slip on rather than bolting through, so replacing worn upholstery is quick and inexpensive.

Practical fittings

Anti-tippers flip up out of the way when they are not wanted, and wheel locks are push to lock with heel loops as standard.

Made in Mississauga

Designed and built in Mississauga, which shortens lead times and keeps parts and service close at hand.

About this product

The Galaxy Lite is Future Mobility's Type 3 folding chair, built in Mississauga. What sets it apart in this class is the sheer breadth of sizing: seat widths run from 10 inches to 24 inches on one frame, which covers a small child at one end and a broad adult at the other. Most chairs need two or three different frames to span that.

The frame uses elliptical heavy duty cross brace tubing, and the seat is set at a 3 degree angle as standard. A height adjustable journal with multi insert stems, together with the axle plate, gives a front seat to floor range from 12.5 inches up to 19.5 inches, so the chair can be brought low enough to foot propel or set high for a taller user without changing frames.

The back canes adjust through a wide arc, from +7 to -21 degrees in 3.5 degree steps, which is a genuine postural adjustment rather than a token one. Armrest height adjusts in half inch increments.

Practical details

The seat and back upholstery slip on rather than bolting through, which makes replacement straightforward as it wears. Wheel locks are push to lock, the footplate is aluminum and flips up, and heel loops come as standard. Anti-tippers flip out of the way when they are not wanted.
