Features & Benefits

Why this one

0 to 45 degree tilt

Tilts a full 45 degrees from upright, enough to move weight properly off the sitting bones rather than simply leaning the person back.

IRIS rotation in space

IRIS rotates the seat about a point near the user's own centre of mass, so the chair grows little in length and the body shifts less on the seat.

Two manual releases

A dual trigger cable release on the backrest suits an attendant behind the chair, and a foot release on the frame frees both hands.

Power tilt option

Power tilt is available with an attendant control plus a tilt control mounting to either armrest, so the user can reposition themselves.

Wide sizing range

Frame widths from 14 to 20 inches and seat depths from 14 to 22 inches cover a wide range from one chair.

Three frame depths

Short, medium and long seat frames each cover a different depth band, so the frame suits the person rather than being stretched to fit.

Transit option

A transit option is available for securement in a vehicle, which matters where the chair travels with the person.

Takes JAY seating

The chair takes JAY cushions and backrests, so pressure relief and postural support are specified with it rather than added later.

About this product

The Quickie SR45 is Sunrise Medical's manual tilt chair, and it tilts through a full 45 degrees from upright. That range is what separates a genuine tilt chair from one that merely leans back a little: at 45 degrees the weight is properly off the sitting bones, which is the point of the exercise for someone who cannot shift their own position.

The chair uses Sunrise's IRIS system, short for Intelligent Rotation In-Space. Rather than pivoting at a fixed point low on the frame, the seat rotates about a point closer to the person's own centre of mass. Two things follow from that. The chair does not grow much longer as it tilts, so it still fits where it needs to, and the person's body moves less relative to the seat surface, which reduces the dragging on skin that repeated tilting can otherwise cause.

Who tilts it, and how

Two manual releases are offered. A dual trigger cable release sits on the backrest for an attendant standing behind the chair, and a foot release mounts on the right side of the frame so the chair can be tilted without letting go with either hand. Power tilt is also available, with an attendant control and a tilt control that mounts to either armrest, so the user can reposition themselves rather than wait to be repositioned.

Sizing and seating

Frame widths run from 14 to 20 inches and seat depths from 14 to 22 inches, across three frame depth ranges. The chair takes JAY cushions and backrests, so a full seating system can be specified with it rather than added afterwards.
