Future Mobility Orion III Tilt Wheelchair
A tilt-in-space wheelchair with 3 to 45 degrees of tilt, optional recline, and a complete seating system included as standard.
Why this one
45 degrees of tilt
The regular setup tilts from 3 to 45 degrees, enough to move weight properly off the sitting bones rather than just leaning the person back.
Optional recline
Infinite recline from -9 to +33 degrees is available where opening the hip angle is genuinely needed, alongside rather than instead of tilt.
Trigger tilt standard
The trigger tilt system is standard on all base models, so an attendant can tilt the chair without a struggle.
Attendant foot tilt
Attendant foot tilt works from a pedal, freeing both hands and taking the strain out of repositioning someone repeatedly through a day.
Grows without new parts
The frame grows up to 4 inches in width and 2 inches in depth per seat rail, without replacing any parts.
Foot propulsion friendly
Larger front openings make it easier to propel with the feet, so someone can keep moving themselves rather than always being pushed.
Seating system included
A contoured padded headrest, the Orion Back with an inch of depth adjustment and a Prism Ideal cushion all come as standard.
Lifetime frame warranty
Future Mobility warrants the frame for life, with one year on materials and workmanship and 90 days on upholstery.
About this product
The Orion III is the newer chair in Future Mobility's tilt range, developed from the Orion II. It tilts from 3 to 45 degrees, and unlike most tilt chairs it arrives with a complete seating system rather than a sling seat that needs a cushion and back specified separately.
Tilting is not the same as reclining. Reclining opens the angle between back and seat, which drags the skin and can leave someone slumped. Tilting rotates the whole seated position backwards, keeping posture intact while moving pressure off the sitting bones. The Orion III does offer recline as an option, from -9 to +33 degrees, for situations where opening the hip angle is genuinely wanted, such as catheterisation or managing tone.
Tilting it, and who does
All base models come with the trigger tilt system, so an attendant can tilt the chair easily. Attendant foot tilt is available, operated by a pedal, which frees both hands and takes the strain out of tilting someone repeatedly through a day. Power tilt is also offered, though it gives slightly less range at 38 degrees against the regular setup's 45.
Growth without new parts
The frame grows up to 4 inches in width and up to 2 inches in depth on each seat rail, without replacing any components. For a chair that may be in service for years, or used across a facility fleet, that is a genuine saving.
