Features & Benefits

Why this one

45 degree tilt

Tilts through 45 degrees, enough to genuinely shift weight off the sitting bones rather than just leaning the person back a little.

Power tilt option

The same frame takes power tilt, roughly 42 degrees of infinite adjustment with a two button hand control, so the user can reposition themselves.

Wide sizing range

Seat widths from 15 to 24 inches and depths from 15 to 24 inches, a wide span covering slim adults through to bariatric widths.

Headrest as standard

A two way padded contoured headrest is standard, not an extra, which matters because head support is essential once a chair tilts back.

Multi adjustable axle

A multi adjustable axle plate sets the seat to floor height between 13.25 and 20 inches across the wheel and castor combinations.

Stroller bar standard

Canes and a stroller bar come as standard, so a caregiver can push comfortably without an added accessory.

Fully equipped

Anti-tippers, push to lock wheel locks, heel loops, an aluminum seat pan and an aluminum flip-up footplate are all included.

Made in Mississauga

Designed and built in Mississauga, which keeps lead times short and parts and service close at hand.

About this product

The Orion II is Future Mobility's manual tilt chair, built in Mississauga. It tilts through 45 degrees, which is enough to genuinely unload the sitting bones rather than simply recline the person a little, and that is the whole point of a tilt chair: someone who cannot shift their own weight needs the chair to do it for them.

Tilting is not the same as reclining. Reclining opens the angle between back and seat, which drags the skin and can leave someone slumped out of position. Tilting keeps the seated posture intact and rotates the whole thing backwards, so pressure moves off the seat and onto the back without disturbing how the person is supported.

Sizing

Seat widths run from 15 to 24 inches and depths from 15 to 24 inches, which is a wide span for a tilt chair and covers a slim adult through to someone needing a bariatric width. Seat to floor height sets between 13.25 and 20 inches depending on the wheel and castor combination, and the order form includes a matrix showing which combinations are available.

Manual or power tilt

The same frame is available with power tilt, giving roughly 42 degrees of infinite adjustment from 3 to 45 degrees with a two button hand control. Power tilt lets someone change their own position without waiting for a caregiver, which matters for both dignity and for how often pressure relief actually happens. Note that power tilt carries a lower weight capacity and is only offered on seat widths from 15 to 20 inches.
