Quickie 2 Folding Ultralight Wheelchair

The folding ultralight most others are compared against, with a modular frame whose components can be swapped as needs change.

Features & Benefits

Why this one

Modular frame

Frame components are independent and interchangeable, so a chair can be adapted as needs change rather than replaced outright.

300 lb capacity

A redesigned 7000 series aluminum cross brace raised capacity to 300 lbs while reducing the chair's own weight, with 350 lbs available.

37 seat height options

Eighteen front and nineteen rear seat height options, enough granularity to get under a table, foot propel or transfer level onto a bed.

Three rear frames

Straight, rounded and depth adjustable rear frames, so the back of the chair suits the person rather than being a fixed given.

Hemi and amputee axles

Rear axle positions include standard, hemi and amputee, so balance can be set correctly for very different bodies on one frame.

Adjustable axle plate

One adjustable axle plate covers the seat to floor range, so changing seat height does not mean swapping hardware.

Hangers that stay tight

Hangers use a bi-directional release lever and a tapered locking mechanism that resists the loosening common on folding chairs.

Power assist ready

The frame takes Quickie Xtender power assist wheels, so drive assistance can be added later without changing the chair.

About this product

The Quickie 2 is the folding ultralight that most others in the category get compared against, and it has been in Sunrise's range long enough to have been refined rather than reinvented. The current frame uses 7000 series aerospace aluminum with a redesigned cross brace, which raised the weight capacity to 300 lbs while bringing the chair's own weight down.

What defines it is modularity. Frame components are independent and interchangeable, so when someone's function, body or environment changes, the part that no longer suits can be swapped rather than the whole chair replaced. For a chair that may be in service for years, that is a meaningful difference in cost and in waiting time.

Fit, in detail

There are 18 front seat height options and 19 rear seat height options, which is the kind of granularity that decides whether someone can get under a table, reach the floor to foot propel, or transfer level onto a bed. Three rear frame styles are offered, straight, rounded and depth adjustable, and the rear axle can be set in standard, hemi or amputee positions. The adjustable axle plate covers the seat to floor range without swapping hardware.

Options

Sunrise quotes over a thousand configurations, with 25 castor options and more than 25 rear wheel, tire and handrim combinations. The hangers use a bi-directional release lever and a tapered locking mechanism that resists loosening over time, which is a common annoyance on folding chairs.
