Features & Benefits

Why this one

Up to 55 degree tilt

Tilts up to 55 degrees, well beyond most tilt chairs, though it is usually supplied set at around 32 degrees which suits most people.

Tilt indicator

A rollerball indicator shows how far the chair is tilted, so pressure relief is done to a repeatable angle rather than by eye.

Dual cylinders

Dual cylinders give consistent tilt effort across all weight capacities, so repositioning feels the same whoever is in the chair.

Removable arms

Arms raise and lower on a trigger and lift out entirely, so side transfers do not need a spanner or a second person.

Adjustable anti-tippers

Anti-tippers adjust with a tap and lock in position, so a caregiver can move them for an obstacle and put them straight back.

Belt mounts built in

Two pre-drilled holes on each side take a seat belt without extra hardware or drilling.

Custom sizing available

Seat widths and depths from 16 to 20 inches, with custom sizes available where the standard range does not fit.

Contracture sling option

A contracture sling is available in standard or M style, for someone whose hips and knees will not extend to a normal seated position.

About this product

The STP, short for Super Tilt Plus, is Power Plus Mobility's most popular tilt chair, made in Canada. It offers a much larger tilt range than their Extreme, up to 55 degrees, though it is typically supplied set at around 32 degrees because most people never need more than that.

That is a sensible default rather than a limitation. Thirty-odd degrees covers ordinary pressure relief and repositioning. The extra range exists for the cases that need it, and a rollerball indicator on the chair shows the caregiver exactly how far it is tilted, so pressure relief can be done to a repeatable angle rather than by guesswork.

Tilting under load

Dual cylinders drive the tilt, and they are specified to give consistent effort across all weight capacities. On a chair that may be repositioned a dozen times a day, tilt that feels the same regardless of who is in it is what keeps the routine happening.

Set up without tools

A lot of the STP adjusts by hand. The arms raise and lower on a trigger and lift out completely for side transfers. Anti-tippers adjust with a tap and lock in place, so a caregiver can swing them out of the way for an obstacle and put them back. Two pre-drilled holes on each side take a seat belt without hardware. For a chair used across a household or a facility, adjustments that need no tools tend to be the ones that actually get made.

Fit

Seat widths and depths run from 16 to 20 inches, with custom sizes available, and the standard back height is 26 inches with adjustable stroller handles. Hangers come at 60, 70 and 80 degrees, with elevating and articulating legrests, and a contracture sling is available in standard or M style.
