Why this one
Wide axle range
The rear axle moves horizontally through a range from 12.5 to 18.25 inches, which is what tunes propulsion effort against rearward stability.
Two-way axle adjustment
The axle adjusts vertically as well as horizontally, so seat height and centre of gravity can both be set without changing frames.
Angle adjustable backs
Back canes set to 0, 5, 10 or 15 degrees, so backrest angle is matched to the person's posture rather than left as it came.
Aluminum frame
A lightweight aluminum frame with aluminum cross braces keeps the weight down while still folding for transport in a car.
Low maintenance wheels
Wheels are injection moulded nylon, so they will not rust, and run on sealed precision bearings that need no lubrication.
Folds without tools
The chair folds by lifting the seat upholstery at front and rear, with no tools needed and nothing to detach except the footrests.
ADP approved
The Glyder is ADP approved, so it can be funded through the Assistive Devices Program for eligible Ontario residents.
Made in Guelph
Designed and assembled in Guelph, Ontario, which keeps lead times short and parts and service close at hand.
About this product
The Glyder is Power Plus Mobility's aluminum folding chair, designed and assembled in Guelph, Ontario. Power Plus builds everything in Canada rather than outsourcing, which for a wheelchair matters in a practical way: parts and service come from a few hours up the road rather than from an overseas factory.
The chair is built around axle adjustability. The rear axle moves horizontally through a range from 12.5 to 18.25 inches, and adjusts vertically as well, so the centre of gravity and the seat height can both be set to the person. That horizontal range is what tunes the balance between easy propulsion and rearward stability, and it is the reason this sits in the Type 3 category rather than alongside simpler folding chairs.
The back canes set to 0, 5, 10 or 15 degrees, so the backrest angle can be matched to the person's posture rather than left at whatever the frame came with.
