About this product
The Fuze T50 is PDG Mobility's best selling tilt chair, and it tilts through 50 degrees, which is more than most. It is built for someone who needs pressure relief or routine repositioning, whether for skin, posture or simply to change what they can see and reach, and unlike many tilt chairs it can still be self propelled.
The tilt pivots around the occupant's centre of gravity. That keeps the chair balanced through the whole range and keeps the wheelbase short, so it does not become long and awkward as it tilts back. A short wheelbase and a small footprint make a real difference in a hallway or a bathroom doorway.
Getting it into a car
The frame comes apart in seconds without tools, and the heaviest remaining piece is under 29 lbs. For a tilt chair that is unusual. It means a family car or SUV can transport a chair that would otherwise need an adapted vehicle, which changes what a person can actually do with their week.
Fit
Seat width runs from 12 to 22 inches on the adjustable frame, or 15 to 24 inches fixed, with seat depths from 15 to 22 inches and front seat heights from 13 to 20 inches. Back angle adjusts through 84 to 120 degrees. A narrow frame version, the T50n, brings the overall width down to seat width plus only 4 inches, which is worth knowing if doorways are tight. A paediatric version is also made.
