Why this one
Three seat heights
Three seat heights: 18 inches small, 20 inches medium, 23 inches large, so the rollator matches your height.
Built for outdoors
Larger wheels roll over pavement joints and kerb cuts instead of stopping dead at them.
Handles adjust too
Handle height adjusts separately and should sit at the crease of your wrist with arms relaxed.
HD version available
A heavy duty Stella HD is available if the user is near the upper end of a standard weight rating.
Somewhere to rest
The seat is what makes a longer walk possible, because being able to rest is what gets people further.
ADP funded
A funded device under the Assistive Devices Program for eligible Ontario residents, subject to criteria.
About this product
The Stella is a Type 3 rollator available in three seat heights, plus a heavy duty version.
Seat heights
- Small, 18 inch seat height
- Medium, 20 inch seat height
- Large, 23 inch seat height
Sit on it before choosing. Feet flat on the floor, knees at roughly a right angle. A seat that is too high means perching and struggling to push up; too low and standing from it is hard work.
Handle height adjusts separately and should sit at the crease of your wrist with your arms relaxed at your sides.
What Type 3 means
Larger wheels built for real terrain. The Ontario Assistive Devices Program describes the Type 3 wheeled walker as the type most suitable for active use on most terrains.
Bigger wheels roll over pavement joints and kerb cuts rather than stopping dead at them, and make gravel or grass manageable. If nearly all your walking is indoors, a Type 2 rollator is lighter and turns more easily in a hallway.
If you need more capacity
We also stock the Stella HD, a heavy duty version with a reinforced frame and a 23 inch seat height. If the user is at the upper end of a standard rollator's weight rating, that is the one to ask about, since a frame that flexes under load feels unsafe and equipment that feels unsafe stops being used.
The seat is the point
Knowing you can sit down at any moment is what makes a longer walk possible. People who are confident they can rest go further and stay out longer, and that affects a great deal more than mobility.
Funding
Type 3 rollators are funded devices under the Assistive Devices Program for eligible Ontario residents, subject to clinical criteria, with the category determined by the assessor.
