Standard Commode with Wheels and drop arms
A wheeled 3-in-1 commode with arms that drop away, so transfers happen sideways at seat level rather than over the armrest.
Why this one
Drop arms for transfers
The armrest drops out of the way, so someone slides across at seat level from a wheelchair or bed without standing.
Much easier for carers
Far less physically demanding for a carer than lifting someone over a fixed armrest, and safer for both.
Moves and locks
Castors let it move between bedside and bathroom, and lock for transfers. Lock them every time.
Three uses in one
Works beside the bed with the pail in, over the toilet with the pail out, or as a shower chair.
About this product
A 3-in-1 commode on castors with drop arms. It works beside the bed with the pail in place, stands over the existing toilet with the pail removed, and moves between rooms on its wheels.
Why drop arms matter
A fixed armrest sits between the chair and whatever you are transferring from. To get on, you have to lift up and over it, which means standing, or being lifted.
A drop arm swings down out of the way. The person slides sideways at seat level, from a wheelchair or a bed, without rising at all. For anyone who cannot stand reliably, that is not a comfort feature: it is the difference between a transfer they can do and one that needs two people.
It also makes an enormous difference to whoever is helping. Sliding someone across is far less physically demanding, and far less risky for both, than lifting them over an armrest.
Who should look at this one
Anyone transferring sideways from a wheelchair. Anyone being assisted by a partner or carer who is doing the lifting. And anyone who can no longer stand safely but can still bear some weight through their arms.
Using it safely
Lock the castors before every transfer, without exception. The arm should latch positively in the raised position, so check it is engaged before anyone leans on it.
Set the leg height so the feet rest flat with the knees at roughly a right angle.
