About this product
The Ocean VIP is the tilting version of Invacare's Aquatec Ocean Ergo, supplied here with the soft seat. It keeps everything that makes the Ocean Ergo good and adds tilt-in-space, for someone who cannot hold themselves upright or needs pressure relief through a long routine.
Tilt that moves down and forward
This is the detail that sets it apart. On most tilt chairs the seat swings backwards, which pushes the person's weight behind the wheelbase and requires a longer frame to stay stable.
The Ocean VIP moves the seat downwards and forwards into the base as it tilts, keeping the user's centre of gravity close to the chair's own. Three things follow. The tilt is lighter and more intuitive to operate, which matters to a carer doing it several times a day. The movement is smoother for the person being tilted. And the chair keeps a small footprint, so it still fits a domestic bathroom.
Tilt range is -5 to 40 degrees, so it goes slightly forward as well as back. The forward angle helps with transfers and with getting weight over the feet.
The soft seat
Supplied with the soft seat rather than the standard rigid plate. Worth having for anyone spending real time on the chair, or who is thin, frail or at risk of pressure injuries, where a hard seat concentrates pressure exactly where the tissue is most vulnerable.
