Bariatric Shower Commode Chair
A bariatric rehab shower commode on a reinforced aluminum frame, so the whole routine happens in one chair.
Why this one
Bariatric frame and seat
A reinforced frame and wider seat, so a larger person is supported across the surface rather than on the edges.
Removes the hard transfers
Removes the transfers that are hardest and heaviest at a higher body weight, often making home care possible.
Will not corrode
Aluminum throughout, so nothing corrodes in daily wet use. On a bariatric frame corrosion is structural, not cosmetic.
Four locking castors
Four rear-locking castors hold the chair firmly for transfers, when the load is highest and least even.
About this product
A bariatric rehab shower commode chair on a reinforced aluminum frame with four rear-locking castors, for the whole bathing and toileting routine in one chair.
Why this is the hardest chair to get right
Someone at a higher body weight who cannot transfer independently faces the most demanding situation in a bathroom. Every transfer is physically heavy work for a carer, and a wet bathroom is the worst possible place to be doing it.
A shower commode removes those transfers. The person is seated once, then wheeled over the toilet, into the shower, and out again. On a bariatric frame that is not a convenience, it is often what makes the routine possible at home rather than requiring two carers or a facility.
Width first, then weight
Weight rating gets the attention, but seat width decides whether the chair works. If the person is wider than the seat, the edges bear load they were not designed for, pressure concentrates at the hips, and there is a real risk of sliding at the sides.
Tell us the person's weight and their hip width measured seated. We will confirm both before quoting rather than assuming the weight rating covers it.
Built for constant wet use
Aluminum throughout, so nothing corrodes under daily exposure to water and soap. Corrosion on a bariatric frame is a structural concern rather than a cosmetic one, which is why the material matters more at this capacity.
Four rear-locking castors hold the chair still for transfers, which is when the load on the frame is highest and least evenly distributed.
Ordering
Tell us the bathroom layout as well: doorway widths, turning space and whether the chair needs to roll over the toilet. A bariatric chair that will not fit through the bathroom door is no use at all.
