Why this one
Rigid unibody frame
A one piece frame is stronger than a two part assembly, keeps the weight down and needs less ongoing maintenance from the user.
Ultrarigid folding
Oversized pivot axles and tight tolerances mean the chair keeps its rigidity through repeated folding, so propulsion stays efficient over time.
Wide seat height range
Front seat to floor height spans 12 to 20 inches, which covers foot propellers at one end and taller users at the other.
Two axle positions
Two centre of gravity positions let the chair be tuned between easy propulsion and rearward stability, set at fitting rather than left at a default.
Convertible armrests
Composite armrests convert between flip-back and single post without tools, and adjust for height between 8 and 14 inches.
Anti-flutter system
Castor flutter at speed is corrected with a twist of a screw, so the ride stays smooth without a service visit.
Made in Canada
Designed and manufactured in Quebec, which shortens lead times and parts supply compared with overseas frames.
Two year warranty
Motion Composites covers the chair for two years from purchase, with a shorter term on wear items such as tires and tubes.
About this product
The Move is Motion Composites' most accessible folding chair, aimed at someone who wants the efficiency of a properly set up lightweight chair without moving to a rigid frame. It is built in Quebec.
Two things separate it from a standard folding chair. The frame is a rigid unibody rather than a two part assembly, which keeps weight down and needs less maintenance than a jointed frame. And the folding mechanism uses oversized pivot axles and tight tolerances, so the chair holds its rigidity through repeated folding. Rigidity matters because energy lost to frame flex is energy the user puts back in with every push.
The axle plate offers two centre of gravity positions, both ahead of the back post. Moving the axle forward makes the chair easier to propel but reduces rearward stability, which is a trade-off worth setting deliberately with a therapist rather than leaving at a default.
Configuration
Back height, back angle, armrest height, front frame angle and seat to floor height are all specified when the chair is ordered. The figures in the specifications are the ranges the frame supports, not one fixed build. Contact us to arrange an assessment.
