About this product

What four-way access means in practice
Most commodes are open at the front, or the front and back. This one gives access from the front, the back and both sides.
If you have ever helped someone with personal care in a bathroom, you will know the problem: the chair is positioned where the room allows, not where you need to stand, and you end up working at an awkward angle or moving the person to reach. Being able to work from whichever side the room permits, without repositioning them, is easier for the carer and considerably more dignified for the person.
Three chairs in one
Over the toilet it is a commode surround. In the shower it is a shower chair. With the bucket out it wheels between bedroom and bathroom as a transport chair.
That last function matters where the bathroom is not next to the bedroom. The person is seated once and stays seated, rather than transferring at each end of the journey.
Comfort and support
A soft PU seat cushion and a wide padded backrest rather than a bare frame, which matters on a chair someone may sit in for a while. Flip-up armrests clear the sides for lateral transfers. A foldable footrest supports the feet when the chair is pushed, and an attachable leg strap keeps the legs correctly aligned during moves.
