Most commode seats are round. This one is elongated, matching the shape of a standard elongated toilet seat rather than the smaller round type.
That matters in two ways. It is more comfortable to sit on, particularly for a taller person or anyone sitting for a while. And when the frame is used over an existing elongated toilet, the seat lines up with the bowl properly instead of sitting across it at the wrong shape.
Folding
