Features & Benefits

Why this one

No wrist strain

The offset rail keeps your wrist straight when pushing down to stand, rather than bending it around an upper rail.

Folds out of the way

Folds up flush against the wall when not needed, so the bathroom stays usable for everyone else.

Will not fall down

A friction hinge holds the rail wherever you leave it, so it cannot drop suddenly and cause injury.

400 lb capacity

Supports up to 400 lbs and exceeds ADA structural strength requirements for grab bars and fasteners.

Left side rail

Mounts on your left as you sit. A right rail is available, and both can be fitted for support on either side.

Mounting options

A Wood Wall Plate spreads load where the wall is weak, and a Floor Mast suits where wall mounting is impossible.

About this product

The P.T. Rail from HealthCraft is a wall-mounted support rail designed specifically for the toilet, and it solves a problem ordinary grab bars do not.

The offset design

On a conventional dual rail system the two rails sit directly above one another. When you push down on the lower one to stand, your wrist has to bend awkwardly around the upper rail. Do that several times a day with arthritic wrists and it hurts.

The P.T. Rail offsets the rails so the lower one is clear, and your wrist stays straight while you push down. That is the whole point of the design, and it is why this rail suits people who have struggled with other rails.

It folds away

The hinged rail lifts up flush against the wall when not needed, so the bathroom is not permanently obstructed for everyone else in the household.

The hinge is a friction hinge, which matters more than it sounds. It holds the rail wherever you leave it, including halfway up, so it will not drop suddenly and strike someone. A rail that falls under its own weight is a hazard in itself.

Left or right

This is the left rail, which mounts on your left side as you sit on the toilet. A right rail is also available, and many installations use both for support on either side.

Because the rails are offset, left and right are genuinely different products rather than mirror-image labels. Choose based on which side the wall is, and which side the person needs support.

Strength

Supports up to 400 lbs, with an ADA compliant 1.5 inch rail diameter, and exceeds ADA structural strength requirements for grab bars and fasteners.

Mounting and installation

It needs solid structural fixing. Where the wall will not take it, HealthCraft make a Wood Wall Plate to spread the load, and a Floor Mast for situations where wall mounting is not possible at all. Ask us about either.

The price shown is for the rail only. Delivery and installation are quoted separately.
