Duet Rollator and Transport Chair
A rollator that converts into a transport chair, for anyone who can walk a distance and then runs out.
Why this one
Rollator and transport chair
Converts between a rollator and a transport chair, so you walk while you can and are pushed when you cannot.
One piece, not two
One piece of equipment instead of taking both a rollator and a wheelchair on an outing.
For limited endurance
Most useful where endurance rather than balance is what limits how far someone gets.
Check the footrests
Check the footrest arrangement, since feet dragging while someone is pushed is unsafe.
Heavier to lift
Heavier than a plain rollator, because the frame must carry someone seated.
Needs a second person
Needs someone available to push. Alone, it gives you a seat but not a way home.
About this product
The Duet is a rollator that converts into a transport chair. The backrest repositions, so what you walk behind becomes a chair someone can push you in.
Two pieces of equipment in one
Plenty of people can walk a reasonable distance and then run out. A shop, a hospital corridor, a family outing or an airport is manageable at first and then becomes too much.
The usual answer is taking both a rollator and a wheelchair, which means someone carrying or pushing the spare. The Duet removes that. You walk while you can, and when you cannot, it becomes a chair.
For someone whose limit is endurance rather than balance, this is often the most useful thing they can own.
Footrests matter
A convertible needs somewhere for the feet to go once the person is seated and being pushed. Feet dragging on the ground while someone is pushed is unsafe and frightening, so check the footrest arrangement suits before ordering.
Two things to be honest about
It is heavier than a plain rollator, because the frame has to carry someone seated. If lifting it into a car is difficult, that matters.
It needs someone available to push. If you are usually out alone, a Duet gives you a seat to rest on but not a way to get home. Be honest about that when choosing, because it is the difference between the right product and a disappointment.
Fit
Sit on it: feet flat on the floor, knees at roughly a right angle. Handle height should sit at the crease of your wrist with your arms relaxed.
Ask us
Tell us how far the person walks before they need to stop, and whether someone is usually with them. That answers whether a convertible is right.
