Standard Commode Without Wheels - Bariatric
A reinforced bariatric commode with a wider seat and fixed legs, folding for storage when not in use.
Why this one
Wider seat
A wider seat so a larger person sits properly, rather than with the edges digging in and the aperture misplaced.
Reinforced frame
The frame is built heavier throughout, so it stays rigid when weight shifts onto one side during a transfer.
Stays put
Fixed legs rather than castors, which is more stable to transfer onto, with nothing to lock or check.
Folds away
Folds for storage, so it can be put away when it is not needed rather than occupying the room permanently.
About this product
A bariatric commode on a reinforced frame with a wider seat, folding for storage. It works beside the bed with the pail in place and stands over an existing toilet with the pail removed.
Width matters as much as the weight rating
Weight capacity gets the attention, but seat width is what decides whether a commode is usable. If someone is wider than the seat, the edges dig in, the aperture ends up in the wrong place, and the whole thing becomes uncomfortable enough that people avoid using it.
A wider seat means the person sits properly, which matters for dignity as much as comfort.
Reinforced, not just rated
The frame is built heavier throughout rather than simply given a higher number. That is what keeps it rigid when weight shifts onto one side during a transfer. A commode that flexes feels unsafe, and equipment that feels unsafe does not get used.
Fixed legs
This version has fixed legs rather than castors, which is the more stable arrangement for transferring onto and means there is nothing to lock or check. It folds for storage when not needed.
Setting it up
Adjust the leg height so the feet rest flat with the knees at roughly a right angle. On a bariatric frame, check all four legs are set identically and fully engaged before use.
Getting the size right
Tell us the user's weight and hip width and we will confirm this is the right frame before you order. If it is borderline we would rather say so than have you buy twice.
