Uplift Seat Assist
A portable lifting cushion that helps you up from your own armchair, for a fraction of the price of a lift chair.
Why this one
Use your own chair
Sits on a chair you already own, so you keep the armchair you actually like sitting in.
Far less than a lift chair
A fraction of the price of a power lift recliner, and no furniture to make room for.
No power needed
A spring mechanism that compresses as you sit and releases as you rise. Nothing to plug in.
It travels
Moves between rooms, goes to a relative's house or on holiday, which no lift chair does.
Assists, does not lift
You control the rise, so it needs reasonable balance and some leg strength. It assists rather than lifts.
Matched to your weight
Matched to the user's weight: too light and it will not lift, too heavy and it pushes faster than expected.
About this product
A portable lifting cushion that sits on a chair you already own and gives you a push up as you stand.
Before you buy a lift chair
A power lift recliner is a significant purchase and a large piece of furniture. For someone whose difficulty is mild, a seat assist does the same job for a small fraction of the price.
It uses a spring or gas mechanism that compresses as you sit and releases as you rise, giving a gentle push at exactly the point most people struggle. There is nothing to plug in.
Who it suits
Someone who can stand once they are up and moving, but finds the first push out of a deep or soft chair hard work. Often that is a specific chair rather than all chairs, and this lets you keep the armchair you actually like sitting in.
It also travels. It can move from the living room to a dining chair, go to a relative's house, or come on holiday, which no lift chair does.
Who it does not suit
You have to control the rise yourself, so it needs reasonable balance and some leg strength. It assists rather than lifts.
If someone cannot bear weight, needs the chair to bring them almost fully upright, or has fallen while standing, they need a power lift chair instead. Tell us honestly how the person stands now and we will say which applies.
Check the chair first
The cushion needs a firm, stable seat beneath it. A very soft or sagging armchair may not give it a base to work from, and a chair that slides on a hard floor is not a good candidate.
Weight capacity matters too, and these are matched to the user's weight to work correctly: too light for the user and it will not lift, too heavy and it pushes them up faster than they expect.
Come and try it
This is the sort of thing that is obvious in thirty seconds in the showroom. Sit down on one and stand up, and you will know immediately whether it is enough.
