About this product
A transfer bench is the most effective thing you can put in a bathroom to prevent falls. It straddles the tub wall, two legs outside the bath and two inside, so you sit down on firm ground and slide across rather than stepping over.
Why that matters
Getting over a tub wall means standing on one leg, on a wet floor, while swinging the other leg over a hard edge, usually with nothing solid to hold. That is the moment most bathroom falls happen.
A transfer bench removes the balancing entirely. You sit, you slide, you are in. Nothing about the sequence requires standing on one foot.
Setting it up
The legs adjust for height, and the two outside legs can usually be set independently of the inside pair, which matters because bathroom floors and tub bottoms are rarely the same height. Non-slip tips grip both the floor and the tub base, and a backrest gives support while washing.
Also worth knowing
You will want a handheld shower head with it. A fixed overhead shower is aimed at someone standing, so seated it mostly sprays the wall and the floor. Adding a shower wand is what makes a seated wash actually work, and it costs very little.
