Bath Board
A board across the tub rim giving a firm seat at wall height, for someone who cannot lower into the bath or get back up.
Why this one
A seat at rim height
Gives a firm seat at tub-wall height, for someone who cannot lower themselves into the bath or get back up.
Lifts off completely
Lifts off entirely when not needed, so the bath is still usable by everyone else in the household.
No floor space
Takes no floor space and needs no assembly, which suits small bathrooms and shared households.
Know the limitation
You still lift your own legs over the tub wall, so choose a transfer bench instead if that is the hard part.
About this product
A bath board lays across the rim of the bathtub, giving you a firm seat at tub-wall height. You sit down on it, then lift your legs over one at a time and slide down or stay seated to wash.
Where a board is the right answer
A board suits someone who can still lift their own legs over the tub wall and has reasonable balance, but who cannot lower themselves to the bottom of the bath or get back up from it. That describes a great many people, and for them a board is the simplest and least expensive solution in this category.
It also takes up no floor space, needs no assembly beyond dropping it on, and lifts off entirely when someone else wants a normal bath. In a shared bathroom that matters.
Where it is not
If lifting the legs over the tub wall is the difficult part, a board does not help, because you still have to do exactly that. A transfer bench is what solves that problem, since it straddles the wall so you slide across instead.
Be honest about which of those two situations you are in. It is the difference between equipment that gets used and equipment that ends up in a cupboard.
Practical points
The board should sit firmly on both tub rims with no rocking before anyone puts weight on it. Most have brackets or grips underneath that locate against the inside of the tub to stop it sliding.
You sit higher than in a normal bath, so the water will not come as far up. A handheld shower head solves that and is worth adding.
