Tub Rail - Fixed Height
A simple clamp-on rail giving a solid handhold at the side of the bath, with no drilling required.
Why this one
No drilling needed
Clamps onto the tub wall with no drilling, so it suits rented homes and condos where fixings are not permitted.
Simple and solid
Fewer moving parts than an adjustable rail, so there is less to loosen or shift out of position over time.
Something solid to hold
Gives something firm to hold when sitting, standing or stepping in, at the moments balance is most at risk.
Removable
Comes off completely, so it can move house with you or be removed when not needed.
About this product
A fixed height tub rail clamps onto the side of the bathtub and gives you something solid to hold while sitting down, standing up or stepping in. It is the simpler and less expensive of the two rails we stock.
Fixed or adjustable
A fixed rail sits at one height, set by the design. That is perfectly good for most standard baths and most people, and there is less to loosen or work out of position over time.
An adjustable rail is worth the extra where the tub is unusually deep, or where the person is much taller or shorter than average, because the handhold can be set to where their hand naturally reaches when rising. If you are unsure, measure from the tub rim to where a comfortable handhold would sit, and tell us.
Why a tub rail rather than a wall grab bar
A wall-mounted grab bar needs screwing into studs or solid blocking, which means drilling tile and finding structure where you need it. In a rental or a condo that is often not permitted. A tub rail clamps on instead, with no drilling and no permanent alteration, and it comes off again.
Fitting it properly
Tighten the clamp onto a clean, dry tub wall, and check it periodically. A rail that has worked loose is more dangerous than no rail, because you trust it without thinking. Check your tub wall thickness falls within the clamp's range before ordering.
