Five inches is a lot
A standard toilet seat sits around 15 inches from the floor. Adding 5 inches brings it to roughly 20, which is a substantial change and the right answer for someone with very limited knee or hip movement, or who is tall.
It is worth checking the feet still reach the floor comfortably once fitted. At this height they may not, particularly for a shorter person, and feet that dangle make standing less stable rather than more. If in doubt, our adjustable seat lets you try 2, 4 and 6 inches and settle on what works.
The arms do the work
Arms are what most people are actually buying at this height. They give something to push up from and something to lower yourself against, and they remove without tools, which matters for anyone transferring sideways from a wheelchair.
