The HD turns in 19.75 inches, which is tight for a bariatric chair and means it still works in a house rather than only in open spaces.
ATX suspension on the HD
ATX suspension with Active-Trac on the HD keeps the drive wheels loaded over uneven ground, so traction is not lost crossing obstacles.
OMNI-casters on the HD
OMNI-casters on the HD are spherical, so the front wheels roll out of ruts and thresholds instead of hanging up on them.
iLevel on the HD
iLevel on the HD raises the seat up to 10 inches and keeps driving at up to 3.5 mph while elevated, for reach and eye-level conversation.
Power positioning
Power positioning seating is available on both bases, covering tilt, recline and elevating legrests where they are clinically needed.
Transit and controls
A WC-19 crash tested transit kit is available with Synergy seating, and either base can take specialty controls instead of a joystick.
About this product
The Q6 Edge is Quantum's long-running mid wheel drive power chair platform. Mid wheel drive places the driving wheels under the middle of the chair, so it turns about its own centre rather than swinging one end around, and Quantum's Mid-Wheel 6 design keeps six wheels in contact with the ground, which is what lets a large chair turn tightly without losing stability.
Two bases on one platform
Quantum builds two bases here and they are not interchangeable. The Q6 Edge HD is the heavy duty one, rated to 450 lbs, with seat widths to 32 inches, ATX suspension using Active-Trac, and OMNI-casters whose spherical shape stops the front wheels hanging up on obstacles. Despite the size it turns in 19.75 inches. The Q6 Edge 2.0 is the standard capacity base on the same platform, with different dimensions and a lower weight limit.
The specifications listed below are for the Q6 Edge HD, and each is labelled as such. If the build quoted is the Q6 Edge 2.0, the capacity and dimensions differ and we will confirm them against the current Pride order form. If weight capacity is the reason you are considering this chair, say so and we will confirm the base before anything else is discussed.
Seating and controls
Both bases take Quantum power positioning seating, so tilt, recline and elevating legrests can be specified where pressure relief, posture or circulation require them. On the HD, iLevel raises the seat up to 10 inches and the chair keeps driving at up to 3.5 mph while elevated. A WC-19 crash tested transit kit is available with Synergy seating. Like all Quantum bases, either can be ordered with specialty controls where a standard joystick is not usable.
