About this product
The ROVI X3 is Motion Concepts' mid wheel drive power base, and it was designed around a single idea: get more stability out of less width. The chassis concentrates the mass of the chair through the mid-line of the base rather than spreading it outward, which is how it manages the narrowest wheelbase in the industry at 23.25 inches while still driving stably.
Narrow width and a 20 inch turning radius make it usable in tight homes, and the same narrowness makes it one of the better power bases for children, who are often put on adult-width chassis for want of an alternative.
onTraxx, and why it matters
The onTraxx driving module reduces the number of control commands a person has to make to hold a straight line over uneven or sloping ground. For someone driving with a joystick that is a convenience. For someone driving with a head array or a proximity switch tray, where every correction is a deliberate physical effort, it is the difference between a route being tiring and being manageable. If the person being assessed uses non-proportional controls, this base deserves serious consideration.
Seating
The X3 is built as a platform for Motion Concepts power positioning and Invacare Matrx seating, mounted on Ultra Rail and Ultra Track interfaces. Power functions reach 50 degrees of centre of gravity tilt, 170 degrees of recline and up to 12 inches of near-silent seat elevation. Seat widths start at 11 inches, which is genuinely paediatric, and run to 22.
