About this product
The M3 Corpus is Permobil's mid wheel drive power chair, and the thing that distinguishes it is what the seat does rather than what the base does. Most power chairs elevate the seat. The M3 elevates and tilts it forward, and lets you drive while it is up there.
ActiveReach and ActiveHeight
ActiveHeight raises the seat by up to 14 inches. ActiveReach then tilts it forward by up to 45 degrees. Together they put someone's hands where a standing person's hands would be, which means high cupboards, a countertop, a shop shelf, or getting weight over the feet to assist a standing transfer. The chair keeps driving at up to 3.2 mph while fully elevated, so this is not a stationary party trick but a way of moving through a kitchen or a shop.
Suspension that does not switch off
FlexLink suspension with independent caster swing arms keeps full suspension at any elevation, any seating position and any speed. That matters because on many chairs the ride hardens or stability drops once the seat is raised, which is exactly when a person is least stable. Here it does not change.
Seating
The Corpus seating system follows the contours of the body, and seat width and depth adjust on indexed, marked settings so a build can be altered later rather than replaced. Power functions run to 50 degrees of posterior tilt and a full 180 degree powered recline, with elevating legrests.
