Stretto means narrow, and that is the entire point of this chair. The Q6 Edge 3 Stretto is Quantum's narrowest power base, at 20.5 inches wide, which is roughly the width of a standard manual wheelchair. Most power chairs are considerably wider, and that width is what stops them getting through a bathroom door or turning in a hallway.

Combined with mid wheel drive, which turns about the centre of the chair rather than swinging the front or back around, it gives a turning radius of about 21 inches. In practice that means a chair that can be used properly inside an ordinary house rather than one that lives in the wider rooms.

Who it is for

The narrow base makes this the Quantum platform for children, teenagers and smaller adults. Other Quantum bases can take paediatric seating, but they remain adult-width underneath. The Stretto is narrow throughout, so a young person gets the same manoeuvrability an adult would expect.

Seat elevation

The iLevel option raises the seat up to 12 inches and, importantly, the chair keeps driving at walking pace while elevated. That changes what someone can reach, which counters they can use, and whether they talk to people at eye level or from below. For a child at school it is the difference between joining in and looking up.

Ride and control

Independent SRS suspension absorbs shock across uneven ground and helps the chair climb obstacles. The Q-Logic 3 control system is highly customisable and supports specialty controls where a standard joystick is not usable. Front and rear LED fender lights and a USB charging port come as standard.
