About this product
The padded version of our standard transfer bench. It straddles the tub wall so you sit down outside the bath and slide across, with a cushioned seat and backrest rather than moulded plastic.
When padding is worth paying for
If a wash takes five minutes, a hard seat is fine. If it takes twenty, or if the person is thin, has little natural padding, or is at risk of pressure sores, a hard plastic seat becomes genuinely uncomfortable and can mark the skin.
Padding also changes how sliding works. A cushioned surface has more friction than smooth plastic, so if someone shuffles across using their arms, the standard bench may actually suit them better. Worth trying both if you can.
