Features & Benefits

Why this one

Two motors

Back and footrest move independently, rather than being linked through a few set positions.

Feet above the heart

Feet can be raised above the heart, which helps leg swelling and is impossible on a linked chair.

For sleeping in the chair

Lets someone who sleeps sitting up, common with breathing and heart conditions, find a workable position.

Any combination

Put your feet up while sitting upright to read, or recline without raising your legs.

Not always necessary

If the chair is mainly to help someone stand, a three position chair does that for less.

Fit matters

Seat depth matters most: too deep and you slide forward, too tall and your feet dangle.

About this product

The Neptune is a two motor power lift recliner in brown.

What two motors gives you

On most lift chairs the back and the footrest are linked: recline the back and the footrest comes up whether you want it or not, through a handful of set positions.

With two motors they move independently. You can put your feet up while sitting upright to read, or recline the back without raising your legs, or find any combination in between.

That matters for two specific things.

Feet above the heart. For anyone with swelling in the legs, raising the feet higher than the chest does real work, and a linked chair cannot reach that position.

Sleeping in the chair. Plenty of people with breathing or heart conditions sleep better sitting up than lying flat, and end up in the chair rather than the bed. Independent adjustment is what lets them find a position they can actually sleep in.

Do you need it?

If the chair is mainly there to help someone stand and sit comfortably for a few hours, a three position chair does that well and costs less.

If either of the two situations above applies, this is the category to be in.

The lift itself

The seat tilts forward and rises, bringing you close to standing so you take your own weight for the last part. That is the reason most people buy a chair like this, and it removes the moment at which a great many falls happen.

Size it to the person

Seat depth matters most: too deep and they slide forward and lose the back support; too tall and their feet dangle. Height, weight and the back of knee to floor measurement decide the size.

Come in and sit in it.

Before delivery

Measure the doorway and the clearance behind the chair, and check there is a power outlet where it will go.
