Why a hinge matters
Most raised toilet seats sit on the bowl and stay put. In a home where one person needs the extra height and nobody else does, that means everyone uses a raised seat, or somebody lifts it off and puts it back several times a day.
In a one bathroom household that is usually why a raised seat ends up in a cupboard unused.
A hinged seat lifts and lowers like a normal toilet seat. The person who needs it uses it, everyone else lifts it out of the way, and nothing has to be removed or stored.
Two inches
Raises a standard 15 inch toilet to about 17. Modest, but often all that is needed, and it keeps the feet solidly on the floor where taller seats can compromise stability.

Please check the shape
This one is for elongated toilets. Measure from the seat bolts to the front rim: about 18.5 inches means elongated, about 16.5 means standard. We stock the hinged seat in standard too.
Bowl shape is the commonest reason a raised seat is returned, and it takes thirty seconds to check.
Everyday use
Check the hinge and mountings are secure periodically, as with any seat that moves.
