Free Standing Toilet Safety Rail
A toilet rail that stands on the floor, giving support on one side wherever the person reaches for it.
Why this one
Position it anywhere
Goes wherever the hand reaches for support, rather than where a wall or stud happens to be.
For awkward layouts
Suits toilets with a bath on one side, or set in a wall run, where a wall rail cannot be fitted usefully.
No drilling needed
No drilling, so it suits rentals and condos and can be removed entirely when no longer needed.
One sided support
Support on one side, which suits someone with one strong arm or a bathroom too narrow for a frame.
Adjustable height
Set the height so the person pushes down with elbows bent rather than straight.
Check it stays stable
Relies on its own weight and footprint, so position it where it cannot be knocked and check stability regularly.
About this product
A free standing toilet safety rail. It sits on the floor beside the toilet and gives a solid handhold, without being fixed to anything.
Where a free standing rail suits
Where there is no wall in the right place. Plenty of toilets sit with a bath on one side and open floor on the other, or in the middle of a wall run, so a wall-mounted rail cannot go where the hand actually needs it.
A free standing rail goes wherever the person reaches for support, which is often not where the structure happens to be.
It also suits rentals and condos where drilling is not permitted, and situations where the need is temporary, such as recovery after surgery.
Rail, frame, or wall bar
A rail gives support on one side. Good where the person has one strong arm, or where a frame will not fit.
A frame stands around the toilet and gives arms on both sides, which is more support but takes more floor space.
A wall mounted bar is the strongest of the three and takes no floor space, but it must be screwed into structure and needs permission in a rental.
Tell us the layout of your bathroom and which arm the person leads with, and we will say which fits.
Using it safely
Set the height so the person pushes down with elbows bent rather than straight. Check the base is level, does not rock, and is stable before anyone leans on it.
A free standing rail relies on its own weight and footprint rather than a fixing, so it should be positioned where it cannot be knocked and checked regularly for stability.
