Blake Salute RDX Air Mattress
A micro low air loss system using 3-to-1 alternation, so two thirds of the body stays supported while the rest is offloaded.
Why this one
3-to-1 alternation
One cell in three deflates rather than every other cell, so two thirds of the body stays supported and the surface feels stable.
Combined air cells
Each of the 18 cells is 8 inches tall, combining 4.5 inches of therapy air over 3.5 inches of static air.
Support without power
The static air layer holds the person up if the power fails, doing the job a foam base normally does.
Fully disinfectable
With no foam core the whole surface can be wiped down and disinfected, which foam cannot be.
Happy Heel setting
The Happy Heel setting adjusts foot section softness digitally, letting heels float and reducing pressure and shear.
Eight comfort settings
Eight electronic comfort settings across both alternating and static modes, so firmness is matched to the person.
Mesh centre strip
A mesh centre strip holds the cells together and stops anyone slipping down between them when repositioned.
Lower running cost
Uses far less energy than a traditional low air loss mattress, which matters on a bed running continuously for months.
About this product
The Salute RDX is a micro low air loss system from Blake Medical, used both to maintain skin health and to treat pressure injuries from stage I through stage IV. It is a Canadian supplied surface and takes a noticeably different approach from most alternating mattresses.
Three-to-one alternation
Most systems alternate every other cell. The Salute RDX deflates one cell in every three, so two thirds of the body stays supported at any moment while the remaining third is offloaded. Compared with alternating half the surface at a time, that feels considerably more stable to lie on, which matters for anyone who finds the sensation of a moving mattress unsettling.
Air cells rather than a foam base
Each of the 18 cells is 8 inches tall and combines 4.5 inches of therapy air with 3.5 inches of static air beneath. That static layer does the job a foam base normally does, holding the person up if the power fails.
Removing the foam has a second benefit that matters in shared or clinical settings: with no foam core, the entire surface can be wiped down and disinfected. Foam absorbs, and anything absorbent is difficult to decontaminate properly.
Heels get their own setting
The Happy Heel function adjusts the softness of the foot section digitally, letting the heels float and reducing both pressure and shear at the point where injuries are most common and hardest to prevent. Adjusting the foot section separately from the rest of the surface is unusual and genuinely useful.
Everyday details
Eight electronic comfort settings across alternating and static modes, so firmness is matched to the person. A mesh centre strip holds the cells together and stops anyone slipping down between them when repositioned. Operation is very quiet, and the system uses far less power than a traditional low air loss mattress, which shows up on the electricity bill of a bed running continuously for months.
