Transition Ramp, 6"
The tallest of our transition ramps, bridging a 6 inch rise, which is a standard step.
Why this one
Handles a standard step
Bridges a 6 inch rise, which is a standard step at a front door, back door, garage or sunroom.
No installation
Compact, needs no installation, and can be taken up whenever it is not wanted.
Steeper than a long ramp
At 6 inches the slope is considerably steeper than a 6 foot folding ramp covering the same step.
Best with power
Suits a powered chair or scooter with torque to climb and braking to descend under control.
Not for self-propelling
Not a good choice for someone self-propelling a manual chair. A 6 foot folding ramp suits them better.
Know the limit
If the rise is over 6 inches, or there is more than one step, a folding or modular ramp is needed.
About this product
A transition ramp for a 6 inch rise, the tallest in our transition range. Six inches is a standard step.
This is a step, not a threshold
At 6 inches you are dealing with a proper step: a front door, a back door onto a garden, or the step into a garage or sunroom.
A transition ramp will bridge it, and for many households that is the right answer because it is compact, needs no installation and can be taken up whenever it is not wanted.
Be clear about the gradient
A transition ramp bridges a fixed height over a short distance. At 6 inches, that produces a slope considerably steeper than a 6 foot folding ramp covering the same step.
It suits a powered chair or scooter, which has the torque to climb and the braking to come down under control, or an attendant strong enough to manage the chair properly.
It is not a good choice for someone self-propelling a manual chair. For them, a 6 foot portable folding ramp gives a much gentler slope on the same step and is worth the extra space it takes to store.
Tell us who is using it and how, and we will say honestly which of the two you want.
Measuring
Measure from the lower surface to the top of the step. If the rise is more than 6 inches, or there is more than one step, this is not the right product and a folding or modular ramp is.
Fitting
It must sit square, fully supported along its length, with no rocking and no movement when a wheel goes onto it. Check the width suits the doorway and the chair, particularly a powered chair or scooter.
