EZ-Access Transitions Rubber Entry Mat, 2.5"
A recycled rubber entry mat bridging a 2.5 inch threshold, staying put without fixings.
Why this one
Stays put unfixed
Heavy enough to stay in place with no fixings, which suits rentals and condos where drilling is not allowed.
Weight matters here
At 2.5 inches a ramp has more leverage against it when a wheel hits the edge, and rubber's mass resists that.
Grips when wet
Rubber grips when wet, unlike aluminium, so it stays safe at a door used in all weather.
Quiet and floor-safe
Quiet under wheels and will not mark or scratch the floor beneath it.
For a deeper lip
Suits deeper patio door tracks, raised front door sills, and lips at a garage or side entrance.
Check it stays put
Watch it does not creep with repeated crossings at this height, and sweep underneath occasionally.
About this product
A recycled rubber entry mat from EZ-Access, bridging a rise of 2.5 inches. It sits at a doorway and ramps the lip so wheels roll over rather than stopping dead against it.
Why rubber rather than aluminium
Rubber is heavy for its size, and that is exactly the point. The mat stays where you put it with no fixings, screws or adhesive, which matters in a rented home, a condominium, or anywhere drilling a threshold is not permitted.
It grips when wet, which aluminium does not, and it is quiet under wheels. It also will not mark or scratch the floor beneath it.
At 2.5 inches, weight matters more than on the smaller mat. A taller ramp has more leverage working against it when a wheel hits the leading edge, and rubber's mass is what keeps it in place.
Where this size is used
Deeper patio and balcony door tracks, raised front door sills on older properties, and the lip at a garage or side entrance. Anywhere the step is too small to call a step but too big to roll over.
Measuring
Measure from the lower surface to the top of the lip. If it is nearer 1.5 inches, we stock that size, and choosing correctly matters: a mat lower than the lip leaves a residual edge, and one taller creates a bump of its own.
Using it
Check it lies flat and fully supported, with no rocking. Watch that it does not creep along the floor with repeated crossings, particularly at this height, and sweep underneath occasionally so trapped grit does not mark the floor.
