Transition Ramp, 2"
A threshold ramp for a 2 inch rise, for patio door tracks, raised sills and floor level changes.
Why this one
For a 2 inch rise
Bridges a 2 inch lip, which is more than enough to stop a wheelchair castor dead.
Patio door tracks
Solves patio and balcony door tracks, which are usually raised well above the floor level.
Useful around the house
Also handles front door sills, garage steps into a house, and lips where flooring changes.
Consider the adjustable
If heights vary between doorways, the 1 to 3 inch adjustable version covers several with one ramp.
Check it does not move
Must sit square and fully supported, and must not shift when a wheel goes onto it.
About this product
A transition ramp for a 2 inch rise. It bridges a raised threshold, a door track, or a low sill.
Two inches is enough to stop someone
Wheelchair castors are small, and a 2 inch lip stops them dead. The chair halts while the person keeps moving forward, which is a jolt at best and a tip at worst.
Going the other way, dropping two inches gives a hard jar through the chair at the moment it is carrying speed.
The same edge catches a walker wheel or a toe. If someone has quietly started avoiding a particular door, this is often the reason.
Where a 2 inch ramp is needed
Patio and balcony doors are the commonest, since the track is usually raised well above the floor. Also front door sills, garage steps down into a house, and the lip where tile meets a lower floor.
Choosing the size
Measure from the lower surface to the top of the lip. If the height varies slightly between doorways in your house, the 1 to 3 inch adjustable version may suit better and covers several doors with one ramp.
If the rise is more than 3 inches, we stock 4, 5 and 6 inch versions.
Fitting it
The ramp should sit square and be fully supported along its length, not overhanging the edge. Check it does not shift when a wheel goes onto it, since a ramp that slides is worse than the lip it was bought to solve.
Check the width suits the doorway and the chair.
