Features & Benefits

Why this one

Lets the ramp turn

Turns the ramp through 90 degrees, which is what lets a long run fit a property with limited space.

Level, not sloped

A level surface to turn on, because turning a chair or walker on a slope is difficult and unstable.

One action at a time

The person stops, turns and then continues, doing each action separately rather than all at once.

Doubles as a landing

Also used as a landing at a door, giving somewhere level to stop while the door is opened.

Positioned by survey

Platform positions are decided by the survey, since they determine how the run divides and whether it fits.

About this product

A level platform that turns a QRamp run through 90 degrees, so the ramp can change direction rather than continuing in a straight line.

Why most domestic ramps need to turn

Ramp length follows the rise at roughly one foot per inch. A three or four step entrance is commonly 24 to 30 inches, which means 24 to 30 feet of sloping run.

Very few front gardens have 30 feet of clear space directly out from the door. So the ramp turns: along the front of the house, back on itself, or around a corner to a driveway.

A 90 degree platform is what makes that possible, and it is usually the component that lets a ramp fit a property at all.

It has to be level

This is the part that matters. A turn must be made on a flat surface, not on a slope.

Turning a wheelchair while on an incline is difficult and unstable, because the chair wants to roll while the person is trying to steer. Doing it with a walker is worse. A level platform means the person stops, turns, and then continues, with each action done separately.

The same applies at a door: there must be a level landing to stop on while the door is opened.

Part of a designed layout

Where platforms go is decided by the survey, not chosen from a list. Their position determines how the run divides and whether the ramp fits the space.

Tell us the rise and the space available and we will work out the layout, including how many platforms and sloping sections it needs.
