Portable Ramp, 2ft
The shortest ramp we stock, for thresholds and very low sills rather than steps.
Why this one
For thresholds, not steps
Suits a rise of about 2 inches, which covers thresholds, patio door tracks and low sills.
Solves a common problem
A raised threshold can stop a wheelchair as effectively as a step. This is the cheapest way past one.
Light and storable
Light enough to carry in one hand and store behind a door or in a car boot.
Not for a real step
A normal step is 6 to 8 inches. On a step this length gives roughly 1 in 3, far too steep to be safe.
About this product
A 2 foot portable ramp, the shortest we stock. It is for a threshold or a very low step, not for a flight of steps.
What a 2 foot ramp is actually for
At the recommended slope of one foot of ramp per inch of rise, 2 feet suits a rise of about 2 inches.
That covers the situations it is designed for: a raised door threshold, a patio door track, a single low sill, or the small step at the bottom of a van with a low floor.
Those are common problems and a short ramp solves them neatly. A raised threshold can stop a wheelchair as effectively as a step, and this is the cheapest and lightest way past it.
What it is not for
A normal step is 6 to 8 inches. Putting a 2 foot ramp on a 7 inch step gives a slope of about 1 in 3, which is far too steep to push up and dangerous coming down.
If you are looking at a step rather than a threshold, you want a 6 foot ramp or longer. Measure the rise and choose from that, not from what will fit in the car.
Why short is useful
It is light, easy to carry in one hand, and stores behind a door or in a car boot without taking real space. For a threshold you cross several times a day, that convenience is the point.
Check before ordering
Measure the rise. Check the ramp's width suits your chair, and confirm the capacity covers the person, the chair and anything carried.
